Registration Procedures

ID Fee: All students who register must pay a $5.00 ID fee each trimester. At least one of the two required pieces of documentation must be from Group A below.

📄 Group A — Primary Documents

  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Court-issued placement documentation
  • DJJ intake / referral paperwork

📄 Group B — Supporting Documents

  • Previous school records / transcripts
  • Immunization Form 680
  • IEP or 504 Plan (if applicable)
  • Emergency contact information

Daily School Procedures

Attendance

Attendance is taken at the start of each class period. All absences are documented and reported in accordance with M-DCPS and DJJ requirements.

Academic Progress

Student academic progress is monitored continuously. Progress reports are issued each trimester and shared with DJJ case managers and families as appropriate.

Conduct & Discipline

All students are expected to follow the M-DCPS Code of Student Conduct. JJCS staff coordinate with DJJ staff on behavioral matters within the facility.

Transition Planning

Re-entry planning is initiated upon enrollment and coordinated with the receiving school, DJJ, and the DEO One-Stop Center prior to release.

Counseling & Support

Students may be referred to counseling services at any time. Referrals can be initiated by the student, teacher, or school staff member.

Credit Recovery

Students are assessed for credit recovery needs upon enrollment. Recovery courses are assigned and tracked through the blended learning model.
